Spa-Jet offers a range of whirlpool and air spa system with numerous options.
We provide four types of whirlpool spa systems, as shown below. What type to choose comes down to your own personal preference. However, we find that our most popular system is the 'Multi-point 12 Jet' in chrome. The following sections describe each of these systems in detail.
Q. What plumbing is required for my whirlpool spa?
A. No extra plumbing is required at all. The whirlpool pump and pipework is fitted to the bath and is self-contained. Just install your bath as normal.
Q. What about the electrical connection?
A. You will need a 13amp connection to your whirlpool pump to the electrical supply. This should be wired through an "earth leakage circuit breaker" (ELCB rated at 13amp minimum with a 30 milliamp trip curent) and a pullcord or spur switch.
Q. Is it safe having an electrical connection to the bath?
A. There is no direct electrical connection to the bath. The switch on the bath is air operated and is connected to the pump via a plastic pneumatic tube. In the case of the electronic control pad option, a low voltage connection is made between the pump and control pad. This makes the system 100% electrically safe.
Q. Will baths salts, bubble bath or other bathing products damage my system?
A. No. Ordinary bathing products will not damage your system. However, when using products that foam up such as bubble bath, it is important to use only a very small amount. A pin drop will usually suffice otherwise a large excess of foam may be produced.
Q. How does a whirlpool bath system work?
A. The system works via a pump sucking water out of the bath through a suction inlet. The pump will then deliver water to each of the jets that are installed in the bath. The jets use the 'venturi' principle to mix air with water to produce bubbles. The more air that is allowed to mix, the greater the agitation of the bubbles. The amount of air can be varied using a control knob that is fitted to the bath.
The Multi-Point system has a choice of either 12 or 16 jets placed around the sides of the bath.
The Multi-Point jet is ???mm in diameter. It is a fixed jet, i.e. cannot be directed like the Clearwater system. Although the jet cannot be directed, there is ample quantity and spacing of the jets to eliminate this factor.
The 12 jet system comes supplied with a 0.75hp pump whilst the 16 jet is 1.25hp
The 12 jet Multi-Point chrome system is currently our most popular choice of whirlpool spa system.
The Clearwater system has a choice of either 6 or 8 jets placed around the sides of the bath.
The Clearwater jet is ???mm in diameter and has a central 'eye-ball' for directing the flow of water.
The Clearwater system comes supplied with a 0.75hp pump
The Combination Whirlpool Spa is a 10 jet system. It is simply a combination of 6 Clearwater jets and 4 Multi-Point jets and comes supplied with a 0.75hp pump. Generally we would fit 2 of the Multi-point jets at one end of the bath around the lumbar position and 2 at the other end around the feet. The Clearwater jets would then be equally spaced around the sides of the bath.
The Air Spa operates on a different principle to the previous systems. Whilst the other systems circulate water from the bath through the pump and out of the jets, the Air Spa uses a blower to push air through the jets that are installed in the base of the bath.
The Air Spa is available with either 12 or 18 jets and comes with an inline heater as standard to warm the air as it's being blown into the water.
Each jet is capped with a ??mm cover. Air Spa jets are installed to the base of the bath whilst the other systems are installed to the sides of the bath. This means that there is room for the Air Spa to be fitted in combination with any of the above systems to create a dual system in a single bath.
Our whirlpool systems come supplied with pneumatic controls as standard unless the 'electronic control touch pad' has been selected as an option.
The controls consist of one 'on/off button' and an 'air control' that governs the strength of the bubbles. The air spa differs in that it has a single control that has three strength settings for the blower.
All systems have the option of an electronic control touch pad. The touch pad is low voltage and offers the same functionality as the pneumatic controls with the added extra of a cyclical 'wave' program that gradually increases and decreases the bubble strength. The touch pad also contains controls for switching underwater lights on and off, if fitted.
Additionally, if you have a dual system (whirlpool plus air-spa), the electronic control touch pad will contain the controls for both systems within the one pad.
All of our systems have the option of adding either a single or double underwater light. The lights are low voltage and come supplied with transformer and a range of interchangeable covers to alter the light colour.
